Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN)

Montessori Model United Nations MMUN

Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) is an international initiative that offers upper elementary and middle school Montessori students the opportunity to grapple with world issues.  Students work together for many months to research global issues from the perspective of a foreign country.  They tackle everything from war, hunger, poverty, and pollution to access to clean drinking water, basic health care, and an education.  Sadly, the list could go on and on which is why this is such an important program for our leaders of tomorrow and our collective future.

In the spring, Montessori students from all over the world convene at the United Nations in New York City to caucus and present position papers that offer potential solutions to the world’s problems.  Students not only have a voice in the debate but also come away with greater awareness and understanding of the problems faced by so many around the world and gain hands-on experience in the diplomatic process.  Montessori Academy of Naples is proud to send a delegation to the MMUN conference and prouder still of the hard work and dedication of the MMUN students and the support of our families, staff, administration, and board.
